Exploring the Great Barrier Reef (PHOTO JOURNAL)

Cairns, Australia & The Great Barrier Reef Pass the seashells—this mermaid is going to the Great Barrier Reef. My bucket list is getting filled with all kinds of salt-water checkmarks!  This week our ship headed out of Sydney, Australia and sailed north to Newcastle and along the Gold Coast to Cairns which is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.  It would be foolish to come to Australia and not explore the reef. Along the journey, mother nature treated us to my favourite sunset yet!!  We are often treated to amazing sunsets but this was really a unique sight to see! More recent I found myself staring at the calendar.  This week marks exactly two months onboard the Solstice and in two weeks the calendar shows I’ll be celebrating my 36th birthday. Time is flying. I’ve never put emphasis or excitement on birthdays, I’ve always thought it’s strange to parade around waving the birthday flag.  There are a lot of things I’ve accomplished, but my birth isn’t one of them. (Although I’m thankful for it :p) But [...]
